Steep Slope Wheelchair Access Ramp –
Not build with proper specifications or local building requirements wheelchair ramp guide.
Wheelchair ramps should safe is an extremely
important step to maintaining safety and wheelchair user’s freedom to move
independently.
But as can be seen in the photo below, the
wheelchair ramps are difficult to use or even dangerous for the disabled
community. Mistakes can avoid when building ramps with proper specifications,
In my experience, people
do not have the information needed to know how long their ramp should be. They
understandably want to save money and space, and some have installed ramps that
were too steep.
For a permanent wheelchair ramp for public access it is usually best to
use the lowest slope possible, which means, build the longest wheelchair ramp
that you have space for.
A steep wheelchair ramp is difficult to climb and can be very dangerous
because of the risk of tipping backwards.
Usually it is necessary to provide a gradual transition from the
wheelchair ramp to the landing.
Please wake up the disabled community in Malaysia and should do
something to stop this “Killing Ramp” and to build with “SIRIM” proper
specification.
