Selangor to introduce parking privileges for the disabled
THE Selangor Government will offer car stickers as a special parking privilege for the disabled.
State welfare and womens affairs chairman Rodziah Ismail said the move was in line with the state’s caring policy towards the underprivileged.
She said those who wished to obtain the stickers would be required to register themselves.
“This will enable the disabled to enjoy free parking at public parking bays in the state.
“The stickers will be launched soon,’’ she told the assembly.
Rodziah said the state had ordered local authorities to impose stricter enforcement against motorists who abused the special parking allocated for the disabled.
She said the state was also looking into easier accessibility for the disabled at public areas including temples, surau and markets.
“We also want public transportation, especially buses, to be disabled-friendly,’’ she said in her reply to a written question from Wong Koon Mun (PR-Kuala Kubu).
Rodziah said the state also offered micro- credit loans of between RM500 and RM5,000 to the disabled.
