ILTC Malaysia had organized a study field visit on 7-11-2019 to Putrajaya

Under the MITRA Project, ILTC Malaysia had organized a study field visit on 7-11-2019 to Putrajaya towards 1st Batch (20 disabled person) to check it out the disabled-friendly facilities of buildings and public amenities at Kompleks Kerajaan Parcel D, Persiaran Sultan Sallahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah, Presint 1, 62000 Putrajaya.

As far as accessing public places is concerned, not much has changed since the PWDA or bylaw amendment was passed. Wheelchair user noticed that, there are too many barriers in the built environment.

MALAYSIA passed the Persons with Disabilities Act (PWDA) in 2008 as part of its obligations under the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN Convention).

Malaysia also amended the Uniform Building Bylaws in 1990, making it compulsory for buildings to provide access and facilities for disabled persons. Existing buildings were given three years to make modifications to comply with the bylaw.
