MACC says sorry

PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission yesterday issued an apology to the disabled community over a remark made by its head of prosecution Datuk Abdul Razak Musa during the Teoh Beng Hock inquest on Friday.
In a statement, the MACC said it did not mean to offend any quarters.It also said the MACC head office was notified that Abdul Razak had already withdrawn his statement and apologised to the individual concerned.
On Friday, Abdul Razak caused an uproar with his remark to lawyer Karpal Singh that "I can sit down, but you cannot stand up".
The apology was issued following several protests by several groups, including the Independent Living and Training Centre and the Malaysians Against Discrimination of the Disabled.
